Welcome, I hope the following information will entice you to get in touch with me to explore ways of how together we can help you and/or your organisation advance in your chosen business.

I have had the privilege of successfully training and assessing hundreds of participants in Leadership and Management, Training Workplace Trainers, Educators, Facilitators, Lecturers, Work, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Project Management and Human Resources since my company, One World Learning (OWL) was registered with the WA Training Accreditation Council (TAC) in 2009 and federally from 2011, Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

I specialise in quality, contextualised frameworks to ensure optimum take-away and real-world meaning. This gives me the opportunity to get to know both participants, companies and stakeholders involved, and match employer/employee goals, taking into account contractual obligations and various Acts and Regulations. Extensive experience and my own journey of lifelong learning enables me to show how these goals can be fulfilled – designing and implementing bespoke courses, creating knowledge transfer and engagement, that  inspires self-development and success.

I have taught Australia wide in cities and regions including Barrow,Cocos/Keeling and Christmas Islands – in countries such as Timor-Leste, Malaysia, Solomon Islands and Nauru, plus recruitment/migration assignments in South Africa. I am open to travel anywhere, and work within operational requirements for the duration it takes to deliver agreed objectives.

I’m qualified, supported by multi-disciplined vocational competence, and licenced to train and assess from Certificate to Graduate Diploma in VET level with over 70 Units of Competency on the OWL scope (https://training.gov.au/Organisation/Details/52129), in disciplines such as Leadership and Management, Business, Human Resources, Leadership, Project Management and Work Health and Safety.

Looking forward to your interest and making contact through this website, email or mobile phone. TRAINING AND EDUCATION

Package history –

             Certificate IV and Diplomas (BSZ – 1998, TAA 2004, TAE 2010; 2016; 2022)

Since OWL was registered in 2009, I have trained, assessed and guided hundreds of educators towards competency for TAA/TAE qualifications. As a result of the frequency of updates for these products and identifying weaknesses in the product, OWL made the decision not to continue with the training and education package.
It is important that trainer/assessors are aware that the RTO Standards under the VET Act state that a Diploma level or higher in adult education suffices for the credentialing of a trainer/assessor.  This can be a Diploma in adult education completed either through the Vocational Education and Training Sector, such as the TAE 50216 Diploma in Design and Develop Assessment Tools, or a degree attained from University in adult education.  It is expected that this clause in the Act will remain the same without the requirement to re-qualify at Certificate IV level. https://www.asqa.gov.au/rtos/users-guide-standards-rtos-2015/chapter-4-training-and-assessment/clauses-113-116-employ-skilled-trainers-and-assessors

I am continuing to guide and support organisational trainer/assessors in achieving competency for the Training and Education products through other avenues.

Chat with me and I will elaborate and discuss those opportunities further.

It is also important to note that individual corporation/company policy may explicitly nominate a product code such as TAE40122 which then becomes a company requirement. This is not a legal requirement for qualification as a trainer/assessor under the RTO Standards.

My observations are that there may be persons within organisations who have had limited exposure to vocational education and training (VET) &/or The Standards under the Act when recruiting for position vacancies within VET.

Note that tertiary education is under a different framework!

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

What is RPL? Do you qualify?

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training.

There are provisions to offer recognition  of prior learning, (RPL), either partially or fully towards specific units and/or full qualifications or skill sets.

Where qualifications or specific units have been awarded previously, credit transfers are honoured, once verified.

RPL is a process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior

learning (including formal, informal, and non-formal learning) to determine the

credit outcomes of an individual application for credit (Australian Qualifications

Framework, second edition, January 2013).

This is underpinned by the AQF definition of credit as follows:

Credit is the value assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be through credit transfer, articulation, recognition of prior learning or advanced standing.

Short course skill sets

You may NOT need a full course qualification to take the next step!

Short Course Skill Sets – the following are Nationally Recognised Units of Competency

Skill Set – definition by ASQA

A single unit of competency or a combination of units of competency from a training package that link to a licensing or regulatory requirement, or a defined industry need. https://www.asqa.gov.au/course-accreditation/users-guide-standards-vet-accredited-courses/accredited-courses-guide-appendices/appendix-1-definitions

A Skill Set can be seen as a training pathway towards a full AQF qualification or as a step in the direction of wider career opportunities within the workplace.

Successfully completing a skill set will lead to the awarding of a Statement of Attainment and could progress onto a full qualification Testamur.

Short Course Skill Sets that are available include:

  • Innovation Practice Skill Set
  • Introduction to Team Management Skill Set
  • Contact Centre Team Manager Skill Set
  • Cross-Sector Mental Health and Organisational Disruption Skill Set
  • Organisational Disruption Management Skill Set
  • Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set
  • Advanced Assessor Skill Set
  • Enterprise Trainer – Mentoring Skill Set
  • Sustainable Practice Skill Set
  • Workplace Supervisor Skill Set

Dare to dream.......and I will help turn that dream into reality.

I offer competency-based training focussing on what a person can do rather than how long they have been in training. Therefore, the training packages are delivered according to the needs and skill levels of the people involved and are not based on set time frames.

Competency-based training also allows individuals to achieve a formal qualification even where their skills and knowledge were acquired outside the classroom.

More information on the subject of competency-based training can be found on – Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

One World Learning will support you in your endeavour to achieve your goals.

Good morning Jan

Thank you so much for all your hard work in delivering the Diploma. I found it informative and you made it easy to follow and work through. I enjoyed everyday and learnt so much during the training. I’d love to do some more training with you one day if the opportunity ever comes up. I look forward to coming back to Perth one day.

Kind regards

Thankyou so much Jan.

I learnt many valuable things during our 4 days and confirmed also that I knew a lot more about project management than I thought I did.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning in a group and meeting new people.

Thankyou also for condensing the course and allowing us to complete the required work in class.

Good morning Jan,

Thank you again for an amazing course I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.

Training Support Officer

Hi Jan – hope your trips to Nauru (and Grafton) are going well!

Firstly, thanks heaps for your assistance with the double DIP course – you are one of the few trainers I’ve studied with that actually makes a course genuinely enjoyable! You might find a couple of online reviews on your business appear in the not-too-distant future.

Now…. With this in mind…..

My Story

My working life started out as a bookkeeper and then into accountancy. A varied and privileged working career from human resource management, business management, to industrial relations and employee relations. In 2007 I took a ‘leap of faith’ to set up my own business and in 2009, set up the registered training organisation(RTO) – a perfect fit for nurturing talent and aligning beliefs and values for the organisation with the right person. Skills, experience and behaviours that match right job/right person, at a given point in time, respectful of the talent of the individual and the position. I take considerable pride in nurturing those talents through training and mentoring with many ex-employees still in contact with me today.  I am proud to say they have grown and become leaders. My reputation as the ‘fix-it’ person – one small step for mankind and one giant leap for ‘jankind’ has served our business well with over 90% of continuing business coming from referrals.

Training in ‘third world’ countries taught me the value of the ‘human’ and just how lucky we are to live in Australia. I am much more enlightened and acknowledge how truly closeted and blanketed our cognitive bias influences our perceptions of others. My life-long commitment to my own self-development and development of others including continuing research into emotional intelligence and resilience, which permeates into all aspects of our lives – personally and professionally.

Ideologically, I am hopeful that I will see the day when anti-discrimination is simplified to two words – human being. There should be no need to differentiate between any of us who share this global world – regardless of gender, race, creed, colour, neurodivergences or disability.

I plan to keep working on in the education space, sharing wisdom and developing high performing teams and individuals to become mentors – leading by example for future generations, recognising the value of diversity, strengths and talents that it represents.
